Lori Hoinkes, CEO of Manchester Central, will highlight Manchester’s strength on the global stage and the opportunities the region presents for business growth as the UK's fastest growing regional economy.
Originally from Canada, and with extensive experience panning European and global markets, including working alongside the Mayor of London on the capital's largest regeneration project, Lori relocated to Manchester in early 2024 to take the helm at one of the UK's largest events venues. With ambitions to increase global recognition for the venue while positively impacting businesses across the city-region, Lori will discuss the importance of a 'region-first' approach, leveraging her international expertise to capitalise on market opportunities.
Andrew Moore, Partner at Addleshaw Goddard LLP, will look at the Labour government's extensive plans for changes to employment law in the Employment Rights Bill and the expected draft Equality (Race and Disability) Bill. This will include the likely impact on pay, recruitment and dismissal processes, business reorganisations, outsourcing, compliance and reporting, the expected rise in tribunal claims, and the potential consequences of trade unions having greater involvement in industrial relations.
Andrew will discuss what to expect in the short, medium and longer term and what businesses can do now to prepare for these impending changes.

Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester
Andy Burnham was first elected as Mayor of Greater Manchester in May 2017, re-elected for a second term in May 2021 and a third term in May 2024.
Responsible for shaping the future of Greater Manchester, Andy’s priorities for his third term include continuing to build a London-style integrated transport system, ending the housing crisis by 2038, offering a new technical education pathway as an alternative to university and creating a new Live Well service, making Greater Manchester a great place to grow up, get on, and grow old.
Before being elected Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy was MP for Leigh from 2001. In government, Andy has held Ministerial positions at the Home Office, Department of Health and the Treasury. In 2008 he became Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, before returning to Health as Secretary of State in 2009.
In opposition, Andy has served as Shadow Education Secretary, Shadow Health Secretary and Shadow Home Secretary.
Lori Hoinkes, CEO, Manchester Central
Lori was appointed CEO of Manchester Central, one of the UK’s largest international convention centres, in 2024.
With an impressive track record of almost 30 years’ experience, Lori has held multiple roles leading strategic growth initiatives across the UK and globally and joined Manchester Central following a successful seven-year tenure as Chief Growth Officer and Managing Director at Montgomery Group, London.
Prior to joining Montgomery Group, Lori worked alongside the Mayor of London on the capital’s largest regeneration project comprising 1,700 businesses and over 40,000 jobs, leading strategy and delivery for the Park Royal Industrial Area as part of the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC).
A strong voice for the UK events industry, Lori recognises the importance of the sector on UK inbound tourism, leaning on her global expertise to capitalise on market opportunities.
She joined Manchester Central at a pivotal time in the company’s growth, with ambitions to increase global awareness while positively impacting people and businesses in Greater Manchester, the UK's fastest growing regional economy.
A passionate advocate for female entrepreneurialism, Lori helped launch the Women in Exhibitions UK Chapter to support/mentor women in the exhibition industry, and further recognise the impact of communities in fostering individual and business growth. She also co-founded Parkbench.com, a hyperlocal aggregator of events, deals and news, designed to bring communities together.
Andrew Moore, Partner, Addleshaw Goddard LLP
Andrew is a Partner in the Employment & Immigration Group at Addleshaw Goddard LLP.
Andrew has been preparing and conducting employment tribunal cases for over 20 years, appearing in the employment tribunal in over 300 cases. He has conducted the advocacy in cases ranging from 10-day complicated whistleblowing, discrimination and TUPE cases to one day unfair dismissal claims.
He also advises on a full range of non-contentious employment matters, including complex disciplinary and grievance issues, discrimination, TUPE within the public and private sector, Trade Union matters and whistleblowing.
Andrew provides advice in respect of contingent workers, including advising on the application of the Conduct of Business Regulations and IR35. He has experience of national minimum wage compliance and supports clients in carrying out self-reviews and in dealing with HMRC investigations on those issues.
