Stay true to your own values
In 2018 our chairman James Reed set out three pledges to encourage and support female Co-Members who work at Reed. One of those pledges was to introduce talks, seminars and webinars, which will be run by successful women, to encourage and inspire women in the business.
Reed is committed to creating an inclusive and diverse workforce by recognising and understanding each individual’s unique differences and celebrating these within the workplace. Valuing diversity has allowed us to create a workplace where Reed co-members can thrive and really progress in their career. Our “Women in Leadership” programme is just one of the ways in which we are doing this.
Our most recent speaker was Heather Melville, Director and Head of Client Experience at PWC and the chairwoman of CMI Women for the Chartered Management Institute. A leader in diversity and inclusion, Heather was awarded an OBE for her “services to Gender Equality”.
Heather gave a range of advice for the next generation of women in leadership (advice that applies to men every bit as much as it does to women), including advice relevant to the day itself… “Find someone in the room you don’t know and talk to them.”
