The Modernising Employment All-Party Parliamentary Group held a session on ‘Women in the Workplace,’ revealing that challenges for women begin even before their careers start.
Despite significant progress, women continue to encounter numerous barriers, from discrimination in the hiring process, to balancing work with family responsibilities, and facing substantial wage and pension gaps compared to their male counterparts. The World Economic Forum estimates that at the current rate of progress, it will take another 131 years for women to achieve parity with men in the workplace.
In response to these pressing issues, Reed Screening, together with the Better Hiring Institute and other partners, has created a comprehensive guide highlighting the numerous systemic barriers women face throughout their careers, drawing attention to the persistent inequality in the workplace.
It provides actionable solutions for business leaders to adopt within their own organisations, including the implementation of effective policies, fostering a supportive workplace culture, and designing jobs that accommodate the diverse needs of women.
By addressing these barriers, businesses can help lessen the gap and support the transition towards a more equitable workplace. This guide is an essential resource for any organisation committed to promoting gender equality and ensuring that women have the opportunity to thrive in their careers.
